GETTING
TO KNOW ALI
CHAMBERS

Ali was born and raised in Memphis to an African-American father and an Iranian mother. He is married to Anetta and they have three exuberant boys: Nathanael, Samuel, and Benjamin. Anetta is originally from Poland and came to the states for college where the two met and married in 2003. Together they are passionate about Jesus, their boys, traveling, diversity, music and sushi. Ali is on a journey to plant a Christian church in one of the most diverse and divided cities in America!

Diversity is not only a part of Ali's heart and life experiences, but it is also in his blood. Through difficult, challenging and painful experiences of living in a racially divided city, Ali always found himself searching for his identity with a people he could build a community with. Through the grace of God he found that in Christ.

The gospel teaches us that God is destroying the dividing wall of hostility between God and man, as well as man and man. Ali has learned through the scripture that diversity is not just a fad. Maya Angelou once said, “that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”

Ali's passion is to see people, who are far from God, brought near to God through the cross of Jesus. This passion extends out to all; rich and poor, black and white, Asian and Middle Eastern. The one unifying factor is that we are all broken and there is only one savior, Jesus, who can make a change.

GETTING TO
KNOW TREVOR
Dodson

Trevor graduated from a small town in south Arkansas. After moving to Memphis he soon fell in love with it’s atmosphere, opportunity, and diversity. The Lord began to use the city as a platform for his love for Jesus and for those seeking answers.

This love for the city and for the lost culminates in the ministry of Mosaic Church.

Trevor has been a member of Wyatt Baptist Church in El Dorado Arkansas for the last 4 years where he served in teaching, small group leadership, and inner city outreach. He has a beautiful wife named Laney, they enjoy spending every minute together. They have one DOGter named “Princess Khloe Sinclaire Dodson,” that somehow ends up in almost every picture they take. Together, Trevor and Laney enjoy worshiping King Jesus, eating healthy, listening to music, watching movies, and being different.

Our
Vision

Our vision flows out of two questions: What is the Church? & What is its mission? The answer to these questions help shape the vision for Mosaic Church. The church in the New Testament was being changed, empowered and set free by the gospel of Jesus. It didn't stop with them but it quickly spread. Hugh Halter, author of AND: The Gathered and scattered Church defined the church as “The gathered community of God’s people, sent out into the world.” So our mission is Making disciples of Jesus that transform the city. From that flows our vision of Spreading the gospel that transforms lives while engaging the diversity of the city.

"Vision is born in the soul of a person who is consumed with the tension between what is and what could be." -Andy Stanley

Why
Mosaic

The dictionary defines a Mosaic as "a combination of diverse elements forming a more or less coherent whole." When you look closely at a Mosaic, you will see many small diverse elements that have different colors, different textures, different sizes and different shapes. And they are beautiful in themselves. But as you begin to zoom out, you begin to see that all those different, diverse elements when put together form one great picture or idea that pulls everything together. When we think of the church we see a Mosaic, a gathering of people who are of different colors, different cultures, different socio-economic groups, different life stories, all brought together by one single idea, one single story, one single Person. The person of Jesus is what brings it all together.

“Making disciples of Jesus that transform the city."

Location

The area we look to plant in is made up of 4 different communities: Berclair, Grahamwood, High Point Terrace, and the northern part of east Memphis. These communities make up the our target area. This community needs a church that will attempt to bring the gospel into a new urban environment in a language they can comprehend and in a cultural form they can connect with. Mosaic Church will be that kind of church. We believe God is calling us to be a church of many nations, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. And we believe God has called us to embrace, love, and renew the city. So we choose this area because it is de-churched, diverse and in the city.
